And I'll explain why in a minute. But let me first say that I've owned Android devices and iOS devices as well. Both of these are amazing platforms that can do basically anything you could possibly need a phone to do, and a lot more in many cases. I personally like them both. Good phone. Had the physical keyboard, did email fine, social networking was a breeze, and I could surf the web.

All I needed. So, why did I go back to the Blackberry? Android in my specific case had a lot of problems. Nearly every time I turned around I was force closing an app, or an app would quit unexpectedly. Or the phone would just lock up and I'd have to yank the battery and start over. Not to mention battery life was horrid to say the least. I like iOS quite a lot. It gets the job done perfectly fine. But for my phone, I switched back to my to get away from all of Android's issues that it was giving me.

The lets me email, check my social networks Facebook and Twitter , Make phone calls of course easily send text messages, and surf the web. That's honestly all that I need a phone to do. Mainly email and social networking. My main point is, I don't see a reason in battling back and forth like a bunch of kids on the playground as to which toy is better. If it does what you need it to do, so be it.

No one else really cares what derogatory things you have to say about their device. I'll leave you with the same view as I have on religion. It's a lot like having a penis. It's okay to have one.

Its okay to be proud of it. But don't go whipping it out and flailing it around in public. Posted by Kast at AM No comments:. Posted by Kast at PM No comments:. Today, I thought we'd talk about mobile devices like cell phones, PDA's, iPods, iPads, and other mobile devices connected to some form of network. Ever find yourself checking email, posting status updates, or other internet related tasks from your cell phone or other media device?

I'm sure we all have at some point. As technologically advanced human beings, we've become somewhat dependent on these devices. Nearly everyone you see nowadays is usually strapped with a blackberry or other smartphone on their hip. Do you think you could actually go a whole day without using them? Are you so reliant on your phones and other devices that being without it could either, severely hinder your daily tasks, or cause you not to be able to do some of them at all?

I've often been criticized as having a "utility belt" of sorts because I have a pouch on my belt for numerous things. Most commonly my phone and iPod. Along with the various tools and gizmos on my keys. Now there have been rare occasions where I've spaced and left both items at home, which put a damper on my day to say the least. Especially when you're waiting on an important message to come through.

It was pretty much a form of "connection withdraws" Ever forgotten your smartphone and went to post that priceless witty status update only to realize you don't have it on you and gone "Uggghhh! How dependent are you on these types of devices? Could you go without them comfortably for extended periods? Labels: ipod , Phones , technology. Friday, February 4, Could you survive comfortably outside of your main operating system? This post is just out of curiosity more than anything, but the question here is, "Could you live using an operating system other than the one that you're most comfortable with?

So say, if Microsoft went bankrupt and lost share of the market, and OS X became the dominate operating system on the market, instead of Windows. What if your favorite operating system suddenly no longer existed? Could you use something different in your daily life? The OS is clean, and simply laid out.

It gets the job done without much hassle at all. Now, some could argue that last statement, but that's not the point of it. For what I use the computer for as a general rule, OS X could get the job done as well as any Windows box. This isn't limited to just Microsoft and Apple though however. What if neither were around and we had to use something open source like a build of Linux?

Ubuntu is nice. I likes me some Ubuntu. Open source software in general. Hey, it works, and it's free. What else would you want? Sure there's a little more tweaking needed here and there depending on what you're running hardware wise sometimes, but there's a TON of different customizable options for Linux.

Plus, Tux is Linux's mascot. Who doesn't like that penguin? He's awesome. And he reminds me of the penguin from Toy Story, whatever his name was. If you've got enough time to sit and play with Ubuntu, you can basically make it look any way you want to. I've seen a lot of awesome things done inside of Ubuntu.

Honestly I'd like to see the typical "Fanboy" types of the listed OS's, you know, the "Windows sucks. What's your opinion? Given the option, would you try something outside of your comfort zone? Why or why not? Now for those that have been living under a rock and don't know what this is, in the simplest terms possible it lets you use one mouse and keyboard on multiple computers.

In this case, 2. What you're going to do is download Win2VNC and install it, let it do its thing. After that's set up and installed when you run it, it'll ask you for a server address. Now, don't let this confuse you as bad as it did me. It's actually not that hard to set up. User Rating: 1.
